Judge Jennifer R. Sletvold

Jennifer R. Sletvold was elected Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Northampton County in November of 2013, and was sworn into office on January 10, 2014. She presides over civil and criminal trials, and she is assigned as an Associate Judge of Domestic Relations and Juvenile Court. In 2014, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania appointed her to serve on the Juvenile Court Procedural Rules Committee.

Judge Sletvold graduated summa cum laude from West Chester University in 1994, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. She subsequently graduated cum laude from The Dickinson School of Law in 1997. Judge Sletvold was admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1997, and she is currently a member of the bar in Pennsylvania, the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States District Court for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania.

While attending The Dickinson School of Law, Judge Sletvold served as a law clerk to The Honorable George E. Hoffer on the Cumberland County Court of Common Pleas. She then accepted a prestigious clerkship with the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, working for Chief Justice Ronald D. Castille. Following her Pennsylvania Supreme Court clerkship, Judge Sletvold became an associate at the firm of Saul Ewing, where she handled complex commercial litigation. From 2000-2007, Judge Sletvold was a member of the Bethlehem law firm of Maloney, Danyi, Sletvold & O’Donnell where she represented businesses, employers, and individuals regarding a wide variety of legal matters in state and federal court. From 2007 until her appointment on the bench, she was a member of the Easton law firm of Lauer & Sletvold, P.C.

Judge Sletvold presently lectures in Contracts Law, Business Law, and Emergency Services Law at Northampton County Community College. Her commitment to community education has led Judge Sletvold to serve multiple terms on the Board of Directors at Lehigh Valley Childcare, Inc. In addition, she also served as a member of the Bethlehem Township Zoning Hearing Board.

Judge Sletvold resides with her husband, Robert, and their two sons in Northampton County.
